Last month Numero magazine caught heat for publishing photos, again, of a white model in blackface. Outrage ensued, naturally. In response to the objections, the French magazine issued a statement/apology to HuffPo that said, in short, they weren’t racist because two of their best friends were black.One friend was Naomi Campbell. The other is Fernando Cabral, above.

This demonstrates the completely inappropriate nature of the accusations made against our magazine, deeply committed to the respect for differences, tolerance and more generally to non-discrimination.
Yup, Numéro is not racist cuz it has not one but two black “friends”. Cabral is from Guinea but is based in Portugal. His brother Armando is also a model.
