Prince is having a moment. The rock star is being taught by Questlove in a weeklong master class at NYU, Toure’s biography on him comes out on Friday, and last Saturday he rocked SXSW in Austin, to list a few. But, back in 1979, at the age of 19, Prince was a nobody.

So much so he had to reinvent himself into the sex god we loved in the 80s. Photographer Robert Whitman was hired for some candids, the results being spectacular. The pictures, some, reminds me of gay porn, specifically the type of guys Latino Fan Club employed in the 1980s: Puerto Rican, hairy, nice bodies. Regular.
