A website that tracks Black Friday deaths reports that one person died and several others were injured today, Black Friday. The death belongs to a teenager, 19, who fell asleep at the wheel after driving friends home after they went shopping this morning. Via the Gaston Gazette:
The wreck happened just south of Belmont on South Point Road. The driver, 19-year-old Patrick Henry Boyd, of 6915 Treebark Lane, Clover, S.C., died in the wreck. The four passengers, Boyd’s girlfriend, Shelby Thompson, 18, and friends, Jacob Medford, 17, Alexander Craze, 20, and Christopher Craze, 19, were all taken to the hospital with injuries.
The four injuries include a stabbing at a Carslbad mall at 12.30 am during a Black Friday event.
According to Carlsbad police officers, an 18-year-old man, who they identified as Javier Covarrubias, stabbed another man in the stomach outside the Westfield Plaza Camino Real mall’s entrance. Covarrubias reportedly then fled the scene on foot with another suspect towards the Movie Max Theater at the mall.
Four injuries occurred at Wal-Marts in Newport, Arkansas, New Boston, Ohio and in Virgina where a man was stabbed over a parking spot. Chaos broke out in Ireland and a man was shot outside a Kohl’s in illinois.
