Rapper, designer and vegan member of rap duo Outkast Andre 3000 has been confirmed to portray legendary rock n roll guitarist Jimi Hendrix in a new biopic, reports VIBE and the Irish Film & Television Network.

While the resemblance between the two musician are similar, only time will tell whether Dre will pull off a compelling performance, which will be filmed in Ireland later this month.

The film will be titled “All Is By My Side,” and will document Hendrix’s period in England between 1966-67 while he worked on his debut album “Are You Experienced,” after he was discovered by Rolling Stones member Keith Richards. Richards then girlfriend Linda Keith  met Hendrix in a NYC club in ’66 and introduced the two. Four years later, Hendrix would die of a drug overdose in a hotel in London.

“Three Kings” and “U Turn” director John Ridley will write and direct  the project which is expected to film over six weeks.
