Jamaican Olympic apparel was unveiled over the weekend and beauty and fashion blog BeautyisDiverse.com got the scoop!
“It is truly an honor to design this collection for my home country and my home team,” said Cedella Marley, daughter of Bob Marley and the designer charged by Puma and The Jamaican Athletic Association.
“It’s not even a dream come true because it’s something I never dreamed would be possible. I ran track in high school in Jamaica and I’m still a huge fan of Jamaican Athletics, so to have a role in creating the outfits for our Olympians is a thrill.”
Marley said that Puma’s partnership with JA will go down in history as legendary and we totally agree with her. The brand, over the years, have lent its support to many Afro-centric teams and artists worldwide.
The Jamaican Olympic apparel designed by Marely looks very stylish and very Jamaican, employing the nation’s flag colorways of black, lemon and green throughout. Our favorite piece is the shirt worn by Bolt, above.
“I admire what PUMA has been doing in Jamaica over the years and the Marley family has the same type of give-back philosophy. I think this partnership is going to be legendary,” Marley said.
Below, more of Marley’s designs modeled by track stars Usain Bolt and Shevon Stoddart.
