The New York Post and sports writer Phil Mushnick has some ‘splainin’ to do! Writing on his Equal Time column, from the year 1954, the lauded loudmouth called Jay-Z’s basketball team the Brooklyn Nets “The New York Niggers.” The Post ran the slur as “N—-s” but a slur is a slur.
“Why the Brooklyn Nets when they can be the New York N—–s?” Mushnick then lets his stereotypical flags fly higher, writing, “The Cheerleaders could be the Brooklyn Bitches or Hoes. Team logo? A 9mm with hollow-tip shell casing strewn beneath. Wanna be Jay-Z hip? Then go all the way.” Because Jay-Z’s not running a business, he’s filming a music video.
What do you think? Should dude be fired? We all know he’s gonna issue an apology if there’s a loud enough outcry. He won’t mean it though.
Some people just can’t keep up with the times. It’s not your world anymore, Mushnick, deal.
