Washington Heights, New York artist M. Tony Peralta, founder of Peralta Project, looks familiar because you stunted in his “Defend Uptown” shirts a few seasons back. His graphics have also graced some of your favorite items including paintings, fitteds and Republica eyewear.
This summer the Washington Heights native, whose family is from the Dominican Republic, is back with Hecho a Mano, a capsule collection of hand-printed tees, snapbacks and tanks.
Peralta Project’s “Summer In New York” collection also re-issues past favorites like “Dept. of Defense,” along with the graphic of a woman’s mouth holding a razorblade— an essential item. He also drops his signature crowd pleaser, “Defend Uptown”—a slogan he coined in response to the growing degree of gentrification and constant scrutiny his neighborhood undergoes.
“Un Verano en Nueva York” is available for purchase exclusively online at www.theperaltaproject.com for a limited time only. Grab something for you and your mami.
