Lupita Nyong’o stans got an early weekend gift when the actress and producer tweeted that she is the new face of cosmetics giant Lancome.
Nyong’o tweeted “@Lupita_Nyongo Me + LANCÔME. #TGIF The secret’s out. And it feels GREAT.”
Fans of the actress were pushing for a cosmetics campaign after the Yale graduate wowed us with her beauty on red carpets and fashion editorials after her incredible performance as Patsey in Steve McQueen’s 12 Years A Slave. To our delight, Nyong’o went on to win an Academy Award last month.
Nyong’o is the first black ambassador for Lancome which features Julia Roberts, Kate Winslet, Penelope Cruz and Lily Collins as spokeswomen. In a statement Friday, Nyong’o said she was proud to represent Lancome, adding “beauty should not be dictated, but should instead be an expression of a woman’s freedom to be herself.”
Lancome ads featuring Nyong’o will start appearing this summer
