Venezuela has a reputation for many things and beauty is king of the list. The South American nation rules all others when it comes to pageants and cosmetic surgery. The European standard of beauty is so high in fact that women and men are being robbed of their hair at gunpoint by jackers called piranhas.
According to HuffPo via Informe 21, “The robbers will hold women at gunpoint in malls and tell them to tie their hair into a ponytail so that they can then cut it off and sell it to beauty salons as hair extensions.”
Hair extensions have increased as much as 30% in the last year alongside a high crime rate which brands Venezuela the third most violent country in the world.
The mayor of Maracaibo, Eveling de Rosales, addressed the issue saying “men and women were being placed to guard and avoid this happening again.”
