I want to read Fourier so that I can be a good conversationalist. At Parties. On the bus. Or even just as an opening.
The characters in Whit Stillman’s 1990 film Metropolitan may not be exactly tolerable but they are fascinating. They have the kind of conversations that I am not sure exist anymore (and possibly never did). They sit in their living rooms in suits and ball gowns discussing Agrarian Socialism and New York in the popular imagination.

This Wednesday Washington Heights based artist M.Tony Peralta launched A Black Season Affair, his latest project, to a packed house at Apt178 Lounge, selling out limited edition tees, posters, snapback caps and other items. Friends, well-wishers and supporters of Peralta sipped on cocktails flavored with Hennessy as a DJ spun, and while a looped video of his collaboration with Feed The Rats occupied a wall. Icelandic pop star Bjork has transcended the genre with Biophilia, her album as apps which tackles science and nature via quirky direct lyrics, music and technology. Mutual Core is the video commissioned by MoCa and is the newest single from the album and its remix, Bastards.Mutual Core is also a masterpiece, an incredible achievement that is both art, educational and, possibly, a feminist treatise against patriarchy in creation theory.
