The Germans, like the British, don’t play when it comes to holidays and merrymaking so it’s no surprise that they’ve turned an abandoned WW2 hangar into a tropical island complete with beaches, water slides and spas.
The tropical island, called Tropical Islands (so original) is located 37 miles away from Berlin and has 200 hotel rooms. Inside Europeans dying from lack of sun can take advantage of seven different spa zones inspired by different areas of the world including Thailand and Africa, can get turn up at thirteen bars and restaurants, play marco polo at a beach, hunt pygmies in a rainforest, renact horror movies in a lagoon and pretend they’re Tiger Woods on a golf course.
The hangar is huge, measuring 1000 feet in length.
It costs 34.50 Euros to enter and an extra 15 Euros to leave, about $1 million dollars. (If you can’t discern sarcasm, kill yourself. You can’t hunt pygmies at the resort).
